Default To Platinum/Sega: please give us an install option on PS3 / improve load times

I realize the PS3 port was handled by Sega and this should rightfully be on their forums... except they don't even have a Bayonetta section. I'm hoping someone at Platinum Games will read this, pass it along to Sega, and that they'll find a sliver of time to devote to it.

So by now everybody knows the PS3 port is less than perfect. Now I can live with the lower quality textures. I can live with the slight framerate issues during cutscenes. However, the load times are literally driving me crazy. 25 secondes to load a stage, 10 seconds to load a cutscene, 5 seconds to load a menu, 3 seconds to pick up an item or change pages in the menu - and that's a minimum. Credit where it is due, the interactive load screen is a great idea, but I'd still much rather not have to suffer through the load times at all. In fact, I can actually point at the most excruciating ones:
a) load time to get into the game menu or the pause menu
b) load time when picking up an item during gameplay
c) load time after a game over screen and selecting "continue": seriously, I was playing the stage 10 seconds ago, where did it all go?

Now I'm no programmer but surely things would load faster from the HDD than from the disc. Maybe there's a way to load items and menu at the same time the game loads the level, so at least there's no separate loading time during gameplay for those. Regardless of the way it is done, please, please release a patch to address these issues.

Edit: I know it's been talked about before, but I thought it deserved its own, post-release thread for visibility.

Edit2: also, I have nothing to do with that poll.

so PS3 doesnt have an install...are they starting to do away with the mandatory installs in recent games? Hopefully load times on the 360 will be better if I install it on the HDD. When I get the game that is.....patience

For what it's worth, here's an answer some people may or may not find interesting.

Hello XXXX,

Thank you for your feedback regarding the load times in Bayonetta. Unfortunately, I can not address this issue for the Japanese version of the game. However, in regards to the North American version of Bayonetta, we are well aware of this issue and are working on a solution.

Regards,

XXXX

I'm still pushing for an answer regarding the jap release, but I figure if they can rig something up for the US (which I assume would also extend to EU) they can probably bring it to the jap game via patch - especially considering they may well have a larger player base in Japan than the US. Of course, one has to bear in mind that the guy is, after all, a customer service representative, and that one relies on their answers at one's own risk...

That's pretty nice, hopefully they work on the framerate too.

I have a weird problem regarding this. Since I am a really patient dude, I can sit thru the whole loadings but it irks me to hear the bluray drive constatly loading and it makes me worry that at this pace it'll wear off. Anyway, a patch would be nice for JP version too, but I dunno if you can actually program an install patch for an already released game.

They could work on the framerate in both versions; it can get pretty bad even on the 360.

Hello XXXX,

Thanks for your follow-up on this matter. I can, in fact, speak on their behalf in saying that a patch to correct this issue is under consideration through development to address the matter of the overwhelming load times with Bayonetta. Something I cannot address directly is when this will occur however I will be tracking this directly on all sides (the Japanese, North American, and European versions) as to ensure that we know exactly the status of each one. Provided that I am given full disclosure on this, I will be sure to keep you posted on what to expect.

Thanks again!
