MadWorlds Soundtrack
In the podcast they said Mr. Takada is responsible for the soundtrack, produced all the beats and that the rappers wrote the lyrics.
I'm not really informed about what's going on in the backround of making a video game, so does that mean that Masafumi Takada, the guy who made the God Hand and Killer7 soundtracks, the genious who turned the Hawaii 5-0 theme into Genes Rock-a-Bye, is making all those beats? Then I already know it will be awesome.
I listen exclusively to rap music for ten years now - only idependent stuff, you know, actually good music made by talented people - so I'm really excited right now.
JP, please consider those questions for an upcoming podcast, even if it's one after release if you don't want to spoil anything.
Is it the first time Takada produced hip hop?
How did he approach it, what were his inspirations?
Did he want to produce something non-standard? Because most beats are just simple loops.
Does he listen to rap?
Did he use alot of sampling?
How is the soundtrack handled ingame? If there are lyrics in it, how do you prevent hearing the same song over and over again? Are there instrumental only parts? It would get a little boring if you think of a rap album with 14-16 tracks.
What artists are in there? A vague answer to this one is good enough for me, like are they mainstream artists, from the independent scene (labels like Def Jux, Stones Throw, Rhymesayers) or underground rappers?
How did you pick the artists?
Personaly I'd like to hear MF Doom, Aesop Rock, Slug or Murs in the soundtrack, they all have a thing for videogames as far as I know, and Dooms and Aesops rapstyle would really fit into the MadWorld.
Generally I'd like to see Takada and/or the MCs involved getting interviewed.

I <3 Hip Hop also.
It would be cool if these actual artist based in the states were able to give us a little freestyle based on MadWorld. If they are available to do so.
I got the impression that Nishikawa was talking about independents in PGTV Ep 1. I don't care either way really though. As long as there are some dope beats there that are not generic (V important), and the rappers in question are displaying some mad skills, I'm cool.
I must say I am concerned though, I do worry that the beats may be too generic and not distinct enough. But that's maybe due to the trailers so far.
I could come to love this soundtrack if it has cutting edge experimental melodies with cool samples. I just hope he's taking inspiration from the very best...and that he's getting feedback from the right people. That's vital.
I second the above request for further insight into the soundtrack. It's no doubt a cool aspect of the game, one that has not really been covered much when all the attention goes towards the visuals.

A good soundtrack is always an excellent compliment to a good beat-em up, so I hope that MadWorld doesn't disappoint in this area.

Funny, Masafumi Takada was my first guess when I first heard the music for this game. He is a fun person to talk to and hang out with. Always wanted to work on a western game. I have his business card and he signed my copies of killer7 and No More Heroes.
Anyhow, I hope this game has a soundtrack released. I would buy it.

I liked the music that I've heard so far, and it realy fits with the mood of the game, something I've never associated with the game's style. Kudos to the developers for making such a choice.
Not very familiar with GOOD rap/hip-hop, so could anyone help me associating thissort of soundtracks with others that the composer might've made?

here's hoping that Masafumi Takada works with Shinji Mikami on his action-horror title with Suda 51
